Charitable Foundation grant supports ‘Kids Ready to Read’ program at Bacon Free Library

A recent $5,885 grant from the MutualOne Charitable Foundation to the Bacon Free Library in South Natick will support the “Natick Kids Ready to Read, Bacon Free Library Ready for Readers” project.

The award will be used for the acquisition of early literacy and reading readiness materials consistent with the American Library Association’s Every Child Ready to Read initiative. It will also be used to purchase books and other learning materials to revitalize and enhance the Library’s children’s collections.

“We extend a huge thank you to the MutualOne Charitable Foundation for helping the Library empower its youngest patrons — along with their parents and grandparents — so that when the children start school, they are truly ready to read and excited about reading,” said John A. Brisbin, Bacon Free Library director.

“More than one-third of all American children entering school are not ready to learn to read,” said Robert P. Lamprey, chairman of the Mutual One Charitable Foundation. “We are pleased to be able to help boost the reading readiness rate of youngsters in our community by helping the Bacon Free Library put the Ready to Read program in place.”
