Robert P. Lamprey, chairman of the MutualOne Charitable Foundation, announced today that the Foundation will award $50,000 over three years to help build the new Christa McAuliffe Branch Library in Framingham’s Nobscot neighborhood.
The Charitable Foundation awarded an initial $20,000 to the Framingham Public Library Foundation, to be followed by $15,000 grants in each of the next two years.
“With almost 135,000 patron visits a year, the present McAuliffe branch is the second busiest of over 100 branch libraries in Massachusetts,” said Lamprey. “That statistic alone goes to show how important it is to Framingham’s residents, from the youngest child to our senior citizens.
“The MutualOne Charitable Foundation is happy to help the branch better serve the needs of our local residents.”
The new branch library will provide a larger children’s room; tutoring and study rooms; quiet reading areas; meeting and programming space; 15 PCs with Internet access; Wi-Fi; ADA-compliant entrance, aisles, restrooms, and parking; and onsite parking for 55 vehicles.
