Foundation awards $2,500 toward healthcare services for uninsured

MW MedicalWith its $2,500 grant from the MutualOne Charitable Foundation, the MetroWest Free Medical Program will be able to enhance its efforts to serve as an entry point to the healthcare system for adults and children in Framingham.

According to Kim Prendergast, executive director of the Medical Program, Framingham has the second-highest rate of uninsured children and the ninth-highest rate of uninsured adults in the state.

Funds from the MutualOne grant will support Program staff and volunteers providing free healthcare services to those who are currently uninsured, and assisting with health insurance applications to move them toward a permanent medical home, said Prendergast.
