MutualOne $5,000 grant helps seniors at HOME
Robert P. Lamprey, chairman of the MutualOne Charitable Foundation, has announced a $5,000 grant from the Foundation to Homeowners Options for Massachusetts Elders (HOME).
The grant will support the organization’s outreach work and prevention initiatives designed to help low-income elders in our area who are experiencing difficulties and dire threats to their ability to maintain themselves long-term in their homes and communities.
“Helping elders successfully age-in-place and maintain their independence and self-reliance is an important part of building community,” said Lamprey. “The MutualOne Charitable Foundation is pleased to support HOME’s efforts.”
MutualOne Foundation awards $1,000 for AMVETS 9-11 Memorial
Steven M. Sousa, executive vice president and COO of MutualOne Bank and a MutualOne Charitable Foundation trustee, announced today that the Foundation has awarded $1,000 to American Veterans (AMVETS) Post 79 in Natick for its new 9-11 Memorial. The funds will provide for the addition of seven lights in memory of the seven T.J. Maxx employees who died on 9-11 and a bell to honor the 343 firefighters lost in the tragedy.
“We were proud to support the Post’s 9-11 Memorial plans,” said Sousa. “September 11th is a date that will always resonate in our minds and in our hearts, no matter how much time passes.”

MutualOne Foundation supports Natick special needs programs with $2,000 grant
Mark R. Haranas, president and CEO of MutualOne Bank and a MutualOne Charitable Foundation trustee, announced today that the Foundation has awarded $2,000 to support special needs programs provided by Camp Arrowhead, the Natick Recreation and Parks Department, and Parents Association of the Handicapped (PATH).
The Foundation grant will provide seven one-week camperships to special needs families requiring financial assistance with program tuition.
“Camping programs such as these are a rewarding experience for individuals with special needs, their families, the sponsoring organizations, and all of the professionals and trained volunteers who come together to make it happen,” said Haranas. “We are pleased to sponsor camperships for special needs individuals who might otherwise miss that opportunity.”

MutualOne Foundation grants $10,000 to Boys & Girls Clubs Framingham Clubhouse
The MutualOne Charitable Foundation has awarded $10,000 to support programs provided by the Framingham Clubhouse of the Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest. Announcement of the grant was made today by Steven M. Sousa, executive vice president and chief operating officer of MutualOne Bank and a Foundation trustee.
The Framingham Clubhouse has over 900 registered members. An average of 260 youngsters between the ages of 6 and 18 participate each day in out-of-school programs at the Pearl Street location.
According to Sousa, the award will help support the Club’s “Youth Development Strategy,” which fosters a sense of belonging, competence, usefulness, and positive and responsible behavior, as well as healthy attitudes and lifestyles.
“The success of the programs and activities offered by the Pearl Street Clubhouse is important to our whole community, now and in the future,” Sousa said. “We are proud to lend our support, and to help ensure continued success as the program grows.”

MutualOne Foundation awards $2,500 to Read to a Child in two Framingham schools
Steven M. Sousa, executive vice president and chief operating officer of MutualOne Bank and a MutualOne Charitable Foundation trustee, recently announced the Foundation’s award of $2,500 to support the Read to a Child program at the Brophy and Woodrow Wilson elementary schools in Framingham.
The lunchtime reading program in the two schools serves 95 students in grades one through four who are struggling with literacy. Adult volunteer mentors share one-on-one time with the students, instilling in them a love of reading and a love of learning.
“The Foundation award will allow Read to a Child to provide updated books and materials for the growing lunchtime reading program,” said Sousa. “We are pleased to help increase the success of these children in reading, and in life, through this program.”
