MutualOne Foundation grant supports initiatives to enhance Natick Center

Steven M. Sousa, executive vice president and chief operating officer of MutualOne Bank and a Foundation trustee, announced that the Foundation has awarded $9,971 to Natick Center Associates to promote the Natick Center Cultural District.

The Foundation award will support a comprehensive marketing program by Natick Center Associates to launch the new Natick Center Cultural District (NCCD) logo and brand identity designed to enhance the cultural, economic, and social vibrancy of the downtown area.

“Blending the allure of a traditional New England town center and the vitality of today’s art, culture and business environment is a definite investment in the Town’s future,” said Sousa. “We’re pleased to have a role in the revitalization process.”

The MutualOne Charitable Foundation has awarded $5,000 to Saint Bridget School in Framingham toward the upgrade of its current technology infrastructure, including installing wireless access points and the purchase of new licensing agreements for the school’s 17 SMART Boards.

“Over the past several years, the MutualOne Charitable Foundation has helped Saint Bridget School introduce a number of technologies to enhance the education of the School’s pre-kindergarten through Grade 8 student population,” said Mark R. Haranas, president and CEO of MutualOne Bank and a Foundation trustee. “We are pleased to help the School keep up with the changes necessary to take full advantage of the technology we helped put in place.”

MutualOne Foundation helps after school program

Fifty-five Framingham youngsters will continue to receive after-school help, thanks to a recent $2,500 grant from the MutualOne Charitable Foundation. Announcement of the grant to Hoops and Homework, Inc. was made by Steven M. Sousa, executive vice president and chief operating officer of MutualOne Bank and a Foundation trustee.

Hoops and Homework provides free daily after-school educational and recreational activities to eligible elementary and middle school students at two Framingham low-income housing developments. Programs include improving reading and math skills, workshops on studying skills, problem solving, exercise, and academic enrichment activities.

“Helping these students prepare for a bright future can make all the difference,” said Sousa. “We are pleased to support Hoops and Homework’s vital role in making that happen.”

Walking Away Homelessness

The sun was shining on the Natick Common as we laced up our sneakers in support of Family Promise MetroWest’s ‘Walk Away Homelessness’ on Sunday, April 11. Before the start of the 3.1-mile walk, our employees greeted many of the participants and had fun handing out giveaways to visitors of our booth.

The over $95,000 raised during the event will help fund the organization’s housing transitional program. Thank you to all of our employees, friends and neighbors who made the event such a success.

MutualOne Foundation sponsors Natick Green-up Week, Creature Teachers exhibit

LCWC With its recent awards totaling $750 to the Lake Cochituate Watershed Council, the MutualOne Charitable Foundation will be the primary co-sponsor of two local Earth Day events: Natick Green-up Week and the Natick Earth Day Festival’s Creature Teachers exhibit.

According to Foundation Chairman Robert P. Lamprey, the first annual Natick Green-up Week involves volunteer clean-up along major Town roadways in preparation for the Natick Earth Day Festival that will take place on Sunday, April 26 at the Natick Common. The Foundation’s $250 award will help purchase the necessary supplies for the clean-up project. In addition, MutualOne Bank employees will be volunteering their services during the week.

A $500 Foundation award will sponsor the return of the Creature Teacher exhibit at the Natick Earth Day Festival. The popular program is a hands-on experience for children and includes snakes, turtles, groundhogs, foxes and a fisher cat, among other creatures.
