Robert P. Lamprey, chairman of the MutualOne Charitable Foundation, has announced a $3,000 grant to the Golden Tones Chorus to support that group’s plans for 10 to 15 concerts to be performed this year at senior health and housing facilities in Natick and Framingham.

Now in its 27th season, the Golden Tones Chorus involves nearly 70 retirement-age singers and dancers who create more than 50 concerts and community events each year across the region.

“By supporting our musical outreach program, the MutualOne Charitable Foundation grant will enable us to present uplifting concerts for many older adults who cannot easily access entertainment,” stated Deborah Marion, director of Golden Tones chorus.

Robert P. Lamprey, chairman of the MutualOne Charitable Foundation, has announced a grant in the amount of $8,300 to SPARK Kindness, Inc., a Natick-based nonprofit devoted to creating and supporting a community culture that empowers youth and promotes kindness and respect.

With its award, MutualOne will be a Premier Corporate Sponsor for the organization’s “Resilient Parent, Resilient Child” speaker series in 2016-17, which is open to the entire MetroWest community. MutualOne was the Premier Corporate Sponsor for the 2015-16 series.

SPARK Kindness President Christine Fortune Guthery noted that MutualOne’s grants have enabled the series to grow and expand by funding top notch speakers and experts from around the country.

“SPARK Kindness is helping to strengthen our community by directly addressing the concerns of local families and their children,” said Lamprey. “This type of programming is invaluable, and MutualOne is pleased to help make it even more impactful going forward.”

Mark R. Haranas, president and CEO of MutualOne Bank and a MutualOne Charitable Foundation trustee, announced that the Foundation has awarded $2,500 to the Heritage Chorale to support their Pops Concert, titled Escaping the Winter Blues.

Now celebrating its 79th season, the Heritage Chorale is a mixed chorus of nearly 100 singers from the MetroWest area. According to Janice Johnson, president of the Heritage Chorale, the funds went towards free tickets for children and seniors, as well as to hire a drummer to enhance the musical experience for the audience.

“The Foundation’s support offers many individuals in our community the opportunity to enjoy professional quality choral music without having to travel to Boston,” said Haranas.

New MWLS program will aid local veterans

Mark R. Haranas, president and CEO of MutualOne Bank and a MutualOne Charitable Foundation trustee, announced today that MetroWest Legal Services (MWLS) has been awarded the Foundation’s second annual $20,000 Robert Lamprey Community Grant.

The Grant honors Robert “Bob” Lamprey, the present chairman of the board and treasurer of MutualOne Bank and chairman of the MutualOne Charitable Foundation. The award was established in 2014 as a tribute to Lamprey for his longstanding commitment, concern and caring for those in need.

Based in Framingham, MetroWest Legal Services provides free legal advocacy in civil cases to protect and advance the rights of the poor, elderly, disabled and other disenfranchised individuals, to help them obtain legal, social, and economic justice.

According to Elizabeth Soule, executive director, MWLS will use the Lamprey Grant funds to implement a program to provide local veterans participating in the Framingham Veterans Treatment Court with legal advice and representation in civil matters, helping them overcome barriers to completing the Court’s service plan and giving them a fresh start in life.

“This program will address the immediate needs of a vulnerable population that did not hesitate to step up to serve our country,” said Haranas. “Helping them along the path to recovery is a way of showing that we appreciate their service and sacrifices.”

The new MWLS program is expected to be in place by March 2016, said Soule.

Mark R. Haranas, president and CEO of MutualOne Bank and a MutualOne Charitable Foundation trustee, has announced a $2,000 Foundation grant to the MetroWest Worker Center, to help the Framingham nonprofit develop a medical advocacy volunteer program.

According to Diego Low, executive director of the Center, the program will recruit retired medical professionals to provide support for injured immigrant workers.

“The cultural diversity of our population helps define us as a community,” said Haranas. “We are pleased to support the Center’s efforts to provide help for its workers in their time of need.”

Robert P. Lamprey, chairman of the MutualOne Charitable Foundation, announced today that the Foundation has awarded a $5,000 grant to the Reed Academy in Framingham, which provides therapeutic and educational services for Metrowest area special needs students.

The Foundation award will be used toward the purchase of ergonomically correct classroom furniture and the acquisition of laptops and educational programming to update the Academy’s technology program, according to Mary M. Crawford, executive director.

“Reed Academy provides extremely valuable services to its students and their families,” said Lamprey. “MutualOne is proud to be able to help enhance those services.”
