Better Bingo at Callahan Senior Center, thanks to MutualOne Foundation
Mark R. Haranas, president and CEO of MutualOne Bank and a MutualOne Charitable Foundation trustee, announced today that the Foundation has awarded $5,225 to Friends of Callahan Center in Framingham for the purchase of a new state-of-the-art Bingo system.
According to Mark Goldman, president of the Friends, the Center’s current 15-year-old Bingo equipment has malfunctioned, making it difficult for the dozens of seniors who attend the weekly games to see and hear the numbers being called. Efforts to repair the system failed due to the unavailability of replacement parts, Goldman said, and the Friends plan to purchase a new system to better meet the needs of the Bingo population.
“For many of our residents, the weekly Bingo games at the Callahan Center are a major social event,” Haranas said. “We’re happy to help the Friends replace the outdated equipment with a new, modern system that will make the occasion even more enjoyable!”

MutualOne Foundation awards funds for Programs For People
Mark R. Haranas, president and CEO of MutualOne Bank and a MutualOne Charitable Foundation trustee, announced today that the Foundation has granted a $4,626 request from Programs For People in Framingham for the purchase of equipment and supplies to enhance the organization’s ability to provide the best possible services to adults who are recovering from serious mental illness.
The majority of the items are needed for the organization’s employment services, according to Iris Carroll, MPH, Programs For People director. Additional purchases will be made for “The Lunch Box,” the program’s onsite pre-vocational food service program for clients preparing to eventually work in the community.
“As a self-supporting organization, Programs For People relies on the community as a whole in order to continue its work,” said Haranas. “The MutualOne Charitable Foundation is pleased to help by providing for the purchase of items that will bring added value to the program.”
